Wednesday is a quiet night here with me, Stuart has a very, very early start on thursday morning so he is usually in bed at the same time as the kids, which leaves me free to do what I want :-) I was mooching around on Flickr the other day and I came across this quilt and fell hopelessly in love! So last night I set out to try my hand at making a pinwheel.
I set up the machine at the kitchen table and set to work with a sunkissed charm pack and a white bella solids charm pack.
I was super concentrating on keeping my seams even, so it was a bit of a surprise when I spied this little furry face over the top of my machine!
Four legged distraction taken care of and I was away again. I still need lots more practice at keeping my seams even, and I'm very, very s-l-o-w, but I did okay.
So, here is the result, my first pinwheel.
I am so pleased with it :-) I nearly ran through to wake up Stuart to show him, but made do with showing the cat :-) he wasn't interested!
Sorry! What? You're asking if that's all I did? One measly pinwheel in 3 hours! Well actually, yes it is the only pinwheel I made.
But......

Congrats on the pinwheel! It is perfect!! So cool to learn something new, isn't it?!
Your pinwheel looks awesome. You did a ton of sewing in 3 hours!!
Stuart is too cute. I miss having a cat sooooooo much...
Love your pinwheel. Can't wait to see the rest!!!
Wow, you've been busy. And by the look of squares you put together, you're up to something!!
Looks great so far Sadie. Looking forward to see more :)

lol--Travis is a dear (His face really makes me laugh for some reason--it's so droll!)
Also, your pinwheel is gorgeous! And I love the fabric you used! Also, the quilt you show as your inspiration is great--I am sure your rendition will be a big success, too! :D
I'm having a great time with my own tiny quilt, though I broke down and am hand-quilting it. Which I LOVE, but I told myself I'd gt used to the machine (faster, and I prefer the look of it.)
I DID tell myself no more time-intensive needle hobbies right now, but who listens!? :D
Please keep us up-to-date on this project. :D
Your pinwheel block looks beautiful! I love that fabric line. Sweet cat too :)
It's great learning new skills, I've discovered crochet and it's lots of fun.
Hi Sadie, love your pinwheel, good luck with all the other wheels.
Hugs
Erna
Beautiful Sadie! I can't wait to see how it all goes together!
I love pinwheel quilts and your post is inspiring me to make another. I love scrap quilts and have so much fabric to work through so I just might take your lead and make some pinwheels! Can't wait to see more photos.
