Christmas break

Hi all :-)
I'm going to have a little blogging break until into the new year. I feel like I am just about burned out and I need to take some time to recharge my batteries. I hope to still drop in on your blogs and hear all about your stitching though :-D
Wishing you all a fabulous Christmas and a peaceful, happy & prosperous new year.

Got silk?

Remember the silks from my last post? Well this is what I did with some of them.
'My True Love Gave to Me' by The Sampler Girl
Freebie found here
32ct HDF linen 'Creme Brulee'
My choice of HDF silks
Stitched for DH

I think I will make it into a little pillow as it's too big for the tree and that way i can display it all year round too :-)

Alas the mince pies are all gone now! But I will be making some more tomorrow.

This week I would like to get some ornaments stitched for family, I have all the supplies pulled for my parents' ornament. I'm hoping to make a start on that tonight, no hints though as mum reads my blog! Hi mumsy :-)

I hope you had a great weekend and that the week ahead is filled with stitches.

Oh my!

What a week it has been! Busy, busy, busy.
DD Caitlin and I did make some mince pies, and here is a pic.
There are only three left now! Very nice indeed.
I started and finished the first of the LHN ornament series, 'Fa La La'.
Stitched with the called for DMc floss on a piece of 'mystery' 26ct evenweave. I left off the beads and the backstitched line at the top, not to my taste. I have a couple of different ideas on what to do with this piece and the ones that go with it so I am going to hold off on the finishing until I make up my mind.
Here is a pic of the ornament I received for the private exchanges I organised. Aren't they great!
They are from (l-r) Claire, Sharlotte and Kay. Love them, thank you ladies :-)
Progress so far on 'Peppermint Lane' by CCN.
Not much yet as I stopped to stitch the LHN ornament :-) I'm using the called for CC and DMC floss and it is being stitched on 32ct sandstone linen. Stitching the green door made me think of Anna's front door over at Stitch Bitch.
Lastly I received some lovely goodies in the mail.
These are HDF silks from Vikki Clayton. Aren't they beautiful! I will be playing with them for the rest of day and maybe even doing a little stitching with them too :-) BTW Vikki also does amazing linen, the silks are sitting on top of a piece of 32ct called 'Creme Brulee'. Yummy!
Well better get going, DH is champing at the bit to get onto the computer :-)
Hope you have a great weekend,

'Christmas Cheer' by Lizzie*Kate
26ct parchment evenweave
my choice of SSS, WDW & CC
Backed with red felt
green ribbon hanger & gingerbread man charm
Stitched for Claire

'Holly & Berries' by LHN
26ct parchment evenweave
Called for DMC floss
Home made cording made with DMC floss
Green ribbon hanger
Backed with co-ordinating cotton fabric
Stitched for Sharlotte

I have received some ornaments too but it is too late to take pics just now so they will come later in the week :-)

Today we put up our christmas tree. It looks beautiful, and thankfully the lights still work! Does anyone else get a little nervous when it comes time to test the lights? I do! I think it is because one year I didn't test them until AFTER they were on the tree and it was fully decorated. I went for the grand switch on and.....nothing! OMG was I cross!

Now I test BEFORE they go on the tree, but I still have butterflies.

The kids are off for a few days here and DH is off for the whole week. DH and DS are planning on going fishing tomorrow so I think a stitchy/crafty/bake-y day is on the cards for me and DD.

Stitching and mince pies! Perfect!

I hope you have a great week,
