'Their Song' is finished!

Well as the title says, today I put in the last stitches on 'Their Song' by Blackbird Designs.
This was such a joy to stitch, the colours are beautiful and it was never a chore to work on. A stitching dream!
Here are some of my favourite bits.
Yummy cherries, no wonder the blackbirds are gathering round!
Speaking of blackbirds......
....and another one along with the year. The chart has 2007, but it was easy to change.

And the whole piece.

What a great way to start my week.
Now what shall I start next?

Birthday interruptions!

Hi Folks :-)
Slow progress this week on my halloween piece from PS. I was, and still am, aiming to do a strand a day on this but there have been a couple of days this week when I haven't even picked up a needle! Sigh! Still, progress is progress, no matter how small it may be!
I've managed a bit better with BBD 'Their Song' , this should be a finish, hopefully fingers crossed, sometime this weekend. it would have been a finish this week but I had to interrupt my sheduled stitching for a bit of birthday stitching.
Stacy, my little sister, will be 21 on Saturday so I have stitched this for her.
It is a freebie found here and I am going to make it into a sachet filled with lavender I have dried from my garden. The photo doesn't show it but IRL the fabric is a very pale gray/lavender colour and is from a grab bag I received from Polstitches. I think that in hindsight the black is too dark and if I had the time I would take it out and use a mid gray instead. But I don't have time so black it stays. I guess I'll know for next time :-)
There is still time to enter my blogoversary giveaway, just leave a comment on the post below. I will be picking a lucky winner this Sunday.
Have a great weekend

...this blog is one year old! I'm going to put together a little package of stitchy goodness for one lucky person. It will have lots of fun stuff and a little something made especially for you by me.
So? Want to be that one lucky person? Well, all you have to do is leave me a comment on this post. That's it. If you want to tell others then please do but it's not a requirement. Don't forget to make sure I have a way to contact you either through your blog, a group or leave an email address.
I'll have the cat pick a winner next weekend.

Scissor Fob

A couple of weeks ago my stitched scissor fob broke! Sob!
I have soldiered on since then and have had to retrieve my scissors from down the side of the sofa more times than I care to remember, DH says he has learned many a new swear word from me in the process! Well finally, today I had had enough, so I got busy and here we have my new scissor fob.
Initial Scissor Fob
Designer : Sadie Wishart (that's me!)
Fabric : 36ct white linen
Floss : WDW Calypso
Backing : White felt
Cord : Handmade using WDW Calypso

Isn't it just a little ray of stitchy sunshine. I've had this floss in my stash for ages now just waiting, patiently for me to find the absolute perfect stitchy project for it. And this was it!
I made the cord too using the same floss. I had planned on using ribbon, like my old fob, but had no co-ordinating ribbon in my stash. This was my first try at making cord and I am pleased as punch.
I have to say a big 'THANK YOU' to my little boy Cameron who is home from school today with a very sore throat and a temperature too. He was my right hand man whilst I made this today and did a great job helping me out. Love you honey!
Well better go feed the troops, hope you are having a great week so far.

I love my postman!

Just look at what he delivered to my door, who wouldn't love the guy!
This is the wonderful prize that Marmie sent me for being the winner in her secret, mystery blogoversary giveaway. There's a pack of John James needles (I'm already using one!), 5 WDW floss in suitably halloween-y colours, two halloween buttons (a black cat and a bat, soooo cute), the Halloween issue of Better Homes and Gardens (I drool over this daily), a beautiful handmade card which features a picture of a thistle that Marnie took herself, and finally a tiny little owl which I had admired on Marnies' blog ages ago and she remembered and sent him to me. Thank you so much Marnie, I love everything and you were right on the money with my love of halloween and of Bernard, that's what I have named the owl, and the thistle is so beautifull. If you have the time go and take a look at Marnies' blog Country Fried Stitches
she is a great lady and creates the most beautiful stitching, so go on take a peek.

On to this weeks stitching, I have put in a bit of time on the PS piece, here is how it looks now.
All the stitching the remains is the same colour, very dark brown. I can see this getting tedious extremely quickly so I'm going to try to stitch a couple of thread lengths on this every day and then reward myself by stitching on this :-)
Blackbird Designs 'Their Song'
This was my mystery new start from my last post. I am loving working on this and it is the main focus for my stitching time so hopefully it will be finished in the next couple of weeks.
Well the sun is shining here today so I had better make the most of it and go hang out my washing. We have had so much rain here this past couple of weeks I am begining to think I live at sea.
Oh, remember back here, I met the Hairy Bikers (my food heroes! swoon), and I was filmed for their new TV series, well I made the cut! I was on TV. How exciting! Granted, I'm only on screen for about 10 secs and say only 2 sentences, but still! I was on TV!!!! You can see it here if you want. I am just over 3 minutes in, and if you keep watching you will get to see a little of the area where I live and also some great recipes!
Hope you have a great week,
Sadie x
