New start and tossin' the floss in

Seeing as I finished up 'Curly Q Ewe; i figured that I was entitled to a new start, or two!
Here is the first. It is the smaller design from the Prairie schooler chart 'When Witches Go Riding'. Stitching with the listed DMC, 1 strand over 2 on 36ct linen.
Hopefully this will be finished and made into something in time for halloween this year.

My other new start is technically not actually a start yet, but it will be when I am finished this blog post :-)
Here is the tossin of the floss in.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what this is? There is no prize but you do get to be smug if you get it right. I'll let you know later in the week.

Off now to make a start, I'm so excited. I LOVE new starts.
Hope your weekend is drier than mine has been so far, come back sunshine!

Curly Q who?

I haven't worked on this since all the way back here. She kinda looks like me, same brown curly hair, only mine will be red by tomorrow.
You can almost smell the sweet scent of this flower. And we all know that where there are flowers.......
......there are sure to be bees!

Happy dancing today! I thought I had finished yesterday. Until I noticed that the ewe didn't have any eyes and I had missed one of the flowers in the border. You just can't get the staff these days!
'Curly Q Ewe' by Little House Needleworks
Recommended DMC and Crescent Colours floss
26ct Honeysuckle Pink evenweave
This will go in my waiting to be framed pile.
Well DH has a long weekend so hopefully with him here to share the 'housework' load I can sit and stitch up a storm.
Hope you have a great weekend,

Summer House

I received a lovely email from Irmeli (no blog), to say that the summer House exchange I stitched for her had arrived safe and sound and that, thankfully, she loves it. Here it is.
The house is from a freebie design by Maryse, the tree is from a freebie design by The Drawn Thread and the rest of the piece was designed by me. The floss is a mixture of DMC and Crescent Colours and the fabric is 32ct Summer Breeze from Silkweavers. Finished as a pinkeep using some blue pearlescent pins and some ivory ribbon.
I love the little blackbird keeping watch over the house and garden.

It is certainly not this sunny in my garden at the moment!
Rain, rain, go away!
Have a great week,

Everywhere I look...

I am seeing people posting about how summer is nearly over, well it's not over here, despite the best efforts of the weather (wind and rain!), see!
I received this beautiful pinkeep from Joke for the HOE Summer House exchange, isn't it beautiful and the colours she used are just perfect. The design is a LHN freebie. Joke also included a little chart designed to be stitched with leftovers, it's really cute. Thank you so much Joke. :-)

I stitched this L*K design over the weekend. The kids thought it was hilarious that I was stitching pants! I just need to remember where I put the buttons for the bloomers. You know how it goes, you say to yourself,
' I'll put these little tiny buttons here and then they will be safe and will not get lost. '
and then you go and forget where here is! AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!
Well I am sure(?) they will turn up. I stitched this on 28ct white evenweave with a mixture of GAST, SSS, WDW and Crescent Colours. I LOVE the SSS 'Blue Raspberry' used to stitch the pants on the left. Before I get comments, here in Scotland, panties/knickers are called pants and what you call pants we call trousers, just so ya know and don't think I am too dumb!

Last night I finished up this little JBW design. I changed it a little, thinking that I know better, but have to admit that maybe I don't know better! (still think I'm not dumb! I'm doubting it now!) I changed the little pumpkin motif on the right hand side as I didn't think it was clear enough but now I think it is too clear and it looks like a 5 yr old did that bit. Sigh. It will have to come out.
Also stitched on 28ct white evenweave with the suggested WDW Terra Cotta. I used 3 strands over 2, I thought 2 strands looked a little sparse and compared to other WDW in my stash it was definatly on the skinny side, anyone else notice this? Skinnyness aside I loved this colour and liked seeing the design grow as each little motif was finished.
Up next is another L*K, this one is bigger. The chart calls for a lot of buttons but I don't have them and won't be getting them. I really like how L*K charts show what to stitch if you don't have the buttons, a big plus in my book as I will not spend rediculous mounts of money having to order them from overseas. (and have a tendancy to lose them!!!!!!! see above)
Well off now to pull my floss, I love gathering supplies for a new project!
Have a great week, and remember, it IS still summer. As my mum says don't wish your life away, even if it is blowing a gale outside and the rain is horizontal! (okay I added the last bit but you know what I mean)
