So, where did that path lead?

Well, let's find out shall we. The walk was about one and a half miles each way so not too long for small legs. Along the way, we passed this lovely little dry stane bridge. Couldn't get better pics as the field was inhabited by some really big, fierce looking bulls.
Oh, is that the sea I see!
Getting closer now. When we got to the head of the path this is the wonderful view we were greeted with.
And to the right, you can just about see it in the distance, is St Ninians cave. You can read more about St Ninian here and about the cave in particular here.
Getting closer.I have to say that we went more for the 'cave' part than the 'St Ninian' part, and as caves go it was disappointing.
Cameron was expecting something much more cave like, with bats and dripping water and darkness. There was something really cool about the cave though. People who visit write their names and the date of their visit on the walls and on little stones from the beach, which they wedge into gaps and fissures in the rock. I spent quite a bit of time reading these, I would LOVE to share a pic but sadly I was not in charge of the camera on this afternoon so you'll just have to use your imagination. Or go visit yourself! Or if you click on the pic above to make it BIGGER you can see some of the stones people have left on the rock to the right.
No stitchy snaps this week. Exchange stitching is now finished though so hopefully there will be pics soon.
Have a great weekend,

More Christmas in July - lots o' pics

Hi folks, I didn't realise until I started uploading them, just how many pics there were for todays post. So, you have been warned!
As the title says, it's more Christmas in July.
I saw that April had received the parcel I sent her for the Hooked on Exchanging 'Christmas in July' exchange. Here is a pic of the pin keep I stitched for her.
'Holly & Berries' by Little House Needleworks
32ct linen (can't recall the colour, oops!)
DMC floss
Dark red ribbon & green/gold pearlescent pins
This was a really fun stitch and I will definatly be doing it again for myself but that will have to wait until after I have stitched it for my mum. She was here when I was taking the photographs and fell in love with it. So, can you guess what mums ornament will be this year?
The next piece was also stitched for a Christmas in July exchange but this time on the Addicted to Snow group. This little pin keep has now arrived in it's new home with Carla.
'Feel the Magic' by Midsummer Night Designs (JCS ornament issue 2008)
18ct white aida & DMC floss
purple ribbon, silver cord & grey pearlescent pins
This was my first attempt at doing a ruched ribbon trim and I really like it. Thankfully so does Carla :-) You can't see it in the pics but there is a thin silver cord at the top so it can be hung up too.
This next picture is of the beautiful ornament I received from Lori in the Addicted to Snow exchange. My christmas colours are red and gold so this fits in perfectly and will have a special place on my tree.
This is rest of the exchange Lori sent.
See, it really is like Christmas in July! Thank you Lori for a fantastic Christmas exchange.
Well now, all these pics make it look like I have been sooooooooo busy, but I haven't done any stitching for the last two weeks! This past week I have been laid low and feeling like death warmed up with suspected food poisoning :-( Not nice at all! Thankfully I am starting to feel much better and have lost the green tinge. LOL.
The week before we went camping for a few days. It was wonderful, despite the earwigs! (Earwigs are insects, harmless but very evil looking, google them if you are not squeamish.)
Here is a pic from one of our excursions.
I wonder where the path will lead to?
More holiday snaps next time.
Have a great weekend,
Sadie x

Happy Snow Days!

Continuing with the Christmas in July theme, here are some snaps of my latest finish.
'Red Snowman' by Shepherd's Bush
32ct linen 'Cranberry Bog' from R & R
Au Ver a Soie & Thread Gatherer Silk Floss
Clay carrot button
I love the little sheep, he looks just too cool for Christmas with his little hat.
How cute is the snowmans carrot nose! I hope the little blackbird doesn't eat it.
This was a really fun stitch. It was my first Shepherd's Bush and also my first time using silk floss. The silk was lovely to work with and I'll definatly use it again in the future, when funds permit! I can't believe how quickly this stitched up, I think because I was enjoying it so much, it was hard to put it down.
Well I know that I won't stitch this again so, does anyone want to swap for another Shepherd's Bush chart? If you are interested please email me, my email is sleepback(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk
Well today is the last day of school for my two little monsters so it might be a little quieter on here for the next six weeks, we'll see.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and for those who celebrate it, 'Happy 4th!'

It's Christmas in July!

Yes, that's right. I DID say 'It's Christmas in July!'
The postman bought me a very interesting parcel today, all the way from the wonderful and very talented Edgar in San Francisco.
I opened the envelope and this is what I found inside.
How pretty is that. But wait....it gets better. Look at what was inside that lovely santa hat paper.
The most beautiful pyn keepe! The colours and the design are just so me. It will be proudly displayed for the whole of July, and also at Christmas too of course. Thank you so much Edgar.
Inside the other present Edgar included some wonderful extras, he obviously read up on my likes. And he also read my mind about the HDF silks. I have been drooling over the Vicki Clayton website for a while now but not yet purchased anything! Can't wait to give them a whirl. Also included where two cuts of finishing fabric, some yummy fragrance sachets, some DMC floss, a very yummy bar of 'peppermint bark' chocolate ( I've already had a piece! It's delicious!) and a lovely card. Here's a pic of the whole shebang.
What a simply wonderfully festive exchange. Thank you again Edgar, I love it all.
Well that's it for today folks, I'm off now to put in some time on the 'Red Snowman'
Hope your week flys by smoothly,
Sadie x
